The Finance & Taxpayer Services Office strives to provide quality taxation, assessment, election administration and financial reporting services for the residents of Goodhue County.


PROPERTY TAX PAYMENTS

To review your property tax statement and the amount due click here. When a tax payment due date falls on a Saturday or Sunday, they are accepted as on-time the next business day. Taxpayers may utilize the following methods to make their property tax payments:

  • Online via credit card or an e-check (fees apply). Pay Online
  • Via mail at 509 W 5th Street, Red Wing, MN 55066
  • Government Center drop box in the alley by the south entrance.  
  • Set up ACH (must be set up 3 weeks prior to due date). ACH Form

Notice of Reassessments

The Goodhue County Assessor’s Office will be performing reassessments of properties in 2023 for the 2024 assessment in the following areas:

- City of Bellechester                             - Goodhue Township

- City of Lake City                                 - Wacouta Township

- Belvidere Townshp                             - Pine Island Township

- Hay Creek Township                           - Featherstone Township

- Florence Township                             - Zumbrota Township 

The appraisal staff will knock on your door and leave their business card if the property owner is unavailable.  The appraisal staff will be updating photos and verifying measurements in the above mentioned areas in 2023 for the 2024 assessment.

*IMPORTANT HOMESTEAD PROPERTY TAX NOTICE*

This will affect next year's property taxes and your eligibility for a Property Tax Refund. 

Have you purchased or moved into a property in the past year?

Contact your county assessor to file a homestead application if you or a qualifying relative occupy the property as a homestead on or before December 31 of the current year. 

What is a qualifying relative?

Some relatives may qualify for homestead classification.

Qualifying relatives for both residential and occupied agricultural homestead include: parents, grandparents, siblings, children, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews of the owner or of the spouse of the owner.

You must apply on or before December 31 of the current year.

Once homestead is granted for relative homestead an annual application is required.

Contact the assessor by December 31 of the current year if the use of the property you own or occupy as a qualifying relative has changed during the past year.   

If you sell, move, or for any reason no longer qualify for the homestead classification, you are required to notify the county assessor within 30 days of the change in homestead status.
